Adam and I watched this buck all summer with great anticipation for the opening weeks of October and the Virginia bow season. After 3 weeks of watching some awesome young bucks chasing does, grunting, and sparing at close range, I felt that the big bucks had to start showing up during daylight. Finally, one morning I sat in the stand overlooking a clear cut with a blanket of acorns on the ground beneath me. I thought I heard something moving up the mountain, so I turned and looked over my shoulder. It turned out to be one of the many grey squirrels foraging amongst the leaves that had already started to fall. When I turned back around, there he stood at 20 yards! This handsome 10pt is by far my best bow kill and my best buck ever taken in Virginia.
