Deer Lasagna

Everyone has a lasagna recipe and for good reason.  It is cheap to make, filling, and can serve many people once or two people for 3 days.  Most importantly, it is delicious!  Deer burger is substituted for beef, but otherwise this recipe is very simple.

serves 6

1 lb of venison burger

1 box of lasagna noodles

1 lb mozzarella cheese

1 teaspoon of oregano

1 teaspoon garlic

1 teaspoon of basil

1 teaspoon of salt

16 oz ricotta cheese

3 cans of tomato sauce (14.5 oz ea.)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Directions: Fill a 4 quart pot with 2 quarts of water and bring to a boil.  Add lasagna noodles and a teaspoon of salt.  Cook noodles until done.  While the noodles are cooking, brown the burger to well done.  In a 9″ x 13′ baking dish, pour in enough tomato sauce to coat the bottom of the dish.  Once noodles are cooked, drain, and lay enough noodles into the baking dish to cover the bottom.  Drain any grease generated from browning the burger, and add the burger evenly on top of the noodles.  Sprinkle the basil and oregano over the meat.  Pour in enough tomato sauce to cover the meat and top with another layer of noodles.  Spread ricotta cheese evenly and top with the last layer of noodles.  Add in remaining sauce.  Sprinkle garlic and spread mozzarella cheese over the top of the dish.  Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
